As per Article 18-a(3)(a) of Directive 2003/87/EC15 of the European Union, new regulations have been adopted for aircrafts taking off and landing to EU countries airports between the dates of 5.11.2008 and 11.02.2009
The above mentioned regulations will apply to Turkish aviation companies. The firms will be evaluated within the scope of these regulations in which they must submit reports of their greenhouse gas emissions that causes climate change. These reports will be confirmed and followed up and meet EU Commerce of Emission obligations until 2012.
Therefore, it was decided to hold an instructive meeting with regard to the required actions that should be taken from 2009 to 2012 within the scope of "Civil Aviation Sector" with the collaboration of the Ministry of Transportation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Foreign Relations Department, the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme, Yeşil Fikir and Vertis Environmental Finance.
